Friars in the Cairnes Building, NUI Galway is a haven for hardworking students, lecturers and researchers. The staff are incredibly thoughtful and efficient and will make your coffee just the way you like it. Cheap, friendly and delicious - what more can I say. Great for kids.

The existance of Friars Restaurant is a major facility, which we are very fortunate to have located in the Cairnes Building on the North Campus. Friars provides a most impressive service, particularly with respect to the opening hours (the ealy morning opening is a most valuable facility to have available) and its extended opening until late evening ensures excellent service.

The range of food on offer, both hot material and cold material is excellent. It is extremely well presented and very well prepared and the quantities are very generous, representing very good value for money.

The addition of the new DELI Bar have been a supperb addition to the range of material on offer. The attention paid by the staff to the customised prepartion of the sandwiches, melts and coffees is most impressive and very much appreciated.
Finally there is the staff, I cannot speak highly enough fo the staff. The courtesy, kindness, good cheer and superb good manners are simply outstanding. I have worked in a number of different Universities in a number of different countries and I can say that they are the most impressive I have ever encountered. They are the 'jewel in the crown'.
