About us

FRIARS

Friars opened in September 2005 in the early days of the Cairnes Building.

Since then we have grown with the North Campus to become a popular, vibrant and friendly destination for our customers.

Our promise then, as it remains now, was to provide the students and staff of the University with a 'home from home' approach to dining,

We use only natural, preservative free ingredients and everything we do is made daily from scratch!

That's where our story in Galway began and since then with the help and support of wonderful staff and loyal customers, we have grown to what we are today.

Below is a little bit of info as to where it all really started...

OUR COMPANY

Café Togo is a small Irish owed company founded in 1997.

Unable to get a proper sandwich anywhere our founder (and lord & master for a time) Liam decided to take matters into his own hands. With little retail experience but a passion for quality fresh food he set up the first Café Togo in Heuston station, supplied exclusively by our own kitchen.

Our policy then and now is to provide fresh wholesome food using natural, preservative –free ingredients.

Café Togo’s promise is that all our fresh ‘Made today for Today’ food
has been prepared on the day that you see it on our shelves. If we don’t sell it, we don’t keep it.

In addition to our kitchen and based on the same principles of freshness and quality we opened our own bakery called The Sugar Loaf Bakery serving yummy stuff fresh everyday.

Because Café Togo is a private company we don’t face the same pressure to grow that a public one does. We will take things slowly and develop at our own pace, one shop at a time. We have eleven (11) units at the moment and are constantly on the lookout for exciting opportunities.

We have big plans for our little company so watch this space………
